Why Gold Is Still a Safe Investment
Gold remains one of the most trusted and secure investments globally. Even in today’s fast-moving markets, many intelligent investors view gold as a solid place to safeguard their money. When uncertainty surrounds currencies or markets, individuals often turn to gold or safer currencies like the Swiss franc.
Swiss Franc and Safe Currencies
In the realm of currencies, the Swiss franc is frequently referred to as the ‘cleanest dirty shirt‘. This expression means that when most currencies struggle, the Swiss franc tends to remain the most stable. When investors feel anxious, they typically seek better currencies than what they currently hold or transfer their money to gold, which is regarded as the ultimate safe haven for wealth.
Low Gold Ownership Among Investors
A recent report revealed that only 1% of family office wealth is invested in gold. This indicates that most major investors do not hold significant amounts of gold. While some argue that gold is experiencing a bubble, data suggests otherwise. Over the past 25 years, gold has performed exceptionally well in numerous major currencies worldwide.
Gold’s Impressive 25-Year Record
Statistics show gold’s annual performance in various currencies over the past 25 years. The number of years with negative returns is minimal.

In US dollars, gold has yielded an average return of 9.9%. In euros, it stands at 9.6%, and in GBP, it is 10.9%. Even against strong currencies like the Swiss franc, gold has provided a return of 7.4%. In Indian rupees (INR), gold has excelled, achieving a return of 12.9% over the same period. There were only three years with losses during this time, and none were significant.
Why Gold Should Be Part of Your Portfolio
Many equity investors argue that gold is unnecessary, labeling it a dead asset that produces nothing. However, despite this perspective, people worldwide are quietly reallocating their money into gold. The data demonstrates that gold has delivered superior returns with lower risk compared to many other asset classes. Overall, gold remains a wise and reliable choice for long-term wealth protection.
