The Enormous Size of the US Market
When comparing the sizes of different markets, one fact stands out: the US stock market is significantly larger than others. The S&P 500 alone has a market capitalization of $52 trillion (see image below), a staggering figure that illustrates the strength and size of the US market. It’s often referred to as the ‘mother market’ because no other market comes close in size.

Gold and Silver Market Sizes
Gold has long been regarded as a major asset class, with a total market capitalization of all mined gold reaching $22.9 trillion. In contrast, silver is much smaller, boasting a market cap of about $2 trillion. This stark difference highlights the greater value gold holds compared to silver in the global asset landscape.
One Company Equals an Entire Country’s Market
One surprising fact is the value of Nvidia Corp, which has a market cap of around $4 trillion. Remarkably, this figure is nearly equal to the total market capitalization of all companies in India combined. It’s astonishing to think that a single company can rival an entire country’s stock market, showcasing the significant size disparity we see today.
Bitcoin and Other Asset Comparisons
Bitcoin has also experienced significant growth, with its total value exceeding $2 trillion. When comparing this with other assets, gold mining has a market cap of $722 billion, silver mining stands at $18 billion, and precious minerals are valued at $80 billion. These figures underscore how modern assets like cryptocurrencies are now competing with traditional ones.
Room for Growth in the Indian Market
While the Indian market is still smaller compared to the US market, it shows considerable potential for growth. If a company like Nvidia can reach a market cap of $4 trillion, there is hope that one day several Indian companies could achieve market caps of half a trillion, one trillion, or even more. With time, India’s total market cap could grow to high double digits, indicating significant progress.
